Sunday morning devotions
Hebrews 11:24- By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect for the recompense of the reward.
Moses new his God, he understood God, his desire towards God was such "I'm sold,I'm bought" "I'm a salve to God" I will suffer for his names sake, my life is in His hands"
He choose to suffer affliction with the people of God.....need I even say more?
we talk about our faith in God, may I ask What faith? Is it the Faith that the men and women of the bible lived by? The faith that was delivered to the saints?
Christianity today makes me question these things very deeply and I must say in a world of self promoting man made organizational unity..... I'm not so sure, I can only examine myself, and the fruit of those who call themselves the Lords. Moses after all could have been unified with his world system but he chose not.
1John 2:6 says: he that abides in Him (Jesus) must also walk even as he walked.
No I'm not Jesus or God but just as Christ was dependant on God for his all so he could accomplish the work of the cross, I must walk in the same manner, and so should you oh sister or brother in the Lord. Yes this includes dependency on God in Prayer, in temptations, but also taking a stand for the truth, preaching the Gospel of which men are saved by Jesus Christ.
If you walk as Christ, as he lives his life out in you through his holy spirit, you will be misunderstood. Are you willing?
Do you want the world to love and accept you? Why? they hated Jesus.
John 8:49-50 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honor my Father, and you do dishonor me. And I seed not mine own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
Today in church it was like the Pastor was there with me as I studied (to a degree) His sermon was on the triumphant entry and he mentioned that there are those that were in the crowed with their palm branches that soon would turn on Christ...... he said that we must seek to be not so much part of the crowed but those who would be ever so close to Jesus, who would be the willing dependable ones who would go to Jerusalem and possibly die.
The conversation in John ch 8 was between the religious of the day the Sadducees and the Pharisees they had their own ideas of Jesus, they argued with him not really knowing who he was, because they believed what they wanted (their idols) John 8:43 says Why do you not understand my speech? even because you cannot hear my word.
"He that is of God hears Gods words: you therefore hear then not, because you are not of God." Jn 8:47
The religious of Jesus day were always angry with him, when he spoke he poked at their idolatrous ideas they had about who he was, Moses, had not received the promise of the savior yet, but he was looking to the one who would one day reward him, he lived as though he would see that day as the rest of the believers did too, yet they died not receiving the promise. The promise we have and can live here right now is that we have the savior, and we will go home soon to be with him away from this world for eternity, but for now let us live and walk as Jesus because the work is yet to be done there are many who die each day 150.000 in America not sure here in Canada, but the point is you were not saved for yourself.
